Dr. Siman is unlike most doctors who treat TMJ and sleep apnea. He believes in staying abreast of the latest technology that can assist in pinpointing pain points and providing enough data to make a proper diagnosis. Dr. Siman constantly stays on top of advanced education training and techniques to remain at the forefront of groundbreaking research. With over thirty years dedicated to treating Temporomandibular joint disorder/dysfunction (TMJ) and advancing research in the field, L.A.’s Dr. Eddie Siman has established himself as much more than your ordinary TMJ doctor, expert cosmetic dentist, or implantologist.
Dr. Eddie Siman believes in helping people find permanent relief, not by medication or invasive surgery, but through holistic care and expert treatment.
Having established himself as one of the most sought-after cosmetic dentists in Southern California, Dr. Siman’s first insight into the damage caused by TMJ came three decades ago when he noticed patients returning with damage to the cosmetic dental work he had completed for them. These patients were showing unexpected damage to their beautifully placed cosmetic dental work and dental implants, such as grinding wear from bruxism to opposing teeth. Interestingly, these patients also reported seemingly unrelated symptoms such as ringing in the ears and neck, shoulder, and back pain. Synthesizing all this data, Dr. Siman grasped the jaw and body connection. The issue was not the cosmetic work itself, but something more subtle and insidious — an unbalanced bite — TMJ.Meet Eddie Siman
As a Sherman Oaks TMJ Specialist, Dr. Siman wants to give his patients the best chance to overcome their sleep apnea, even if that means creating it himself. He designed and prototyped his own TMJ device based on an FDA-approved appliance to improve his patients’ sleep without using bulky CPAP machines.
Dr. Siman’s device is more comfortable, adjustable, and tolerable to wear for long periods of time. It also requires no electricity or batteries. The device fits like a retainer with the help of dental pictures and muscle testing for optimized placement. Experience a restful sleep with the innovations of Dr. Siman — no noise, no discomfort, and less infection risk.

Sleep apnea is a severe and life-threatening sleep disorder. Sleep apnea is defined by continuous involuntary breathing interruptions during sleep. These interruptions – or apneic events, as they’re called – can last anywhere from a short second to a couple of minutes, occurring up to 30 times within a single hour. This imbalance then triggers the brain to quickly open up the airway, causing loud snores and partial awakening.
As a result, this constant stimulation to both the brain and upper airway muscles prevents the body from getting the deep sleep it requires night after night. Because sleep apnea doesn’t always fully awaken sufferers at night, patients may go years without the diagnosis and proper treatment they need, all the while experiencing chronic daytime headaches and drowsiness. TMJ specialist, Dr. Siman believes that 75% of the population struggles with TMJ or TMJ-related complications and don’t even know it because they have been to various medical specialists such as neurologists, orthodontists, ENTs, and chiropractors who treat only the symptoms without diagnosing the source of their problem. TMJ symptoms include migraines, ringing in the ears, lockjaw, sleep apnea, and neck, shoulder, and back pain.TMJ treatment video
Dr. Siman is one of the few TMJ doctors, let alone dentists, whose office is equipped with an in-house CT scan alongside other high-tech equipment at his disposal. With this technology, Dr. Siman provides a proper and certain diagnosis for his patients, which allows him the freedom to customize treatment and therapy to the severity of their condition.
Dr. Siman took it upon himself to get to the source and underlying cause of his patients’ painful symptoms. Through years of extensive research and ongoing study, Dr. Siman determined that pain associated with one’s jaw, teeth, face, and even shoulder and neck was often tied to damage to or malformation of the Temporomandibular joint.
Most people wouldn’t think to connect their snoring problems or shoulder pain to the region between the jaw and ear, but Dr. Siman believed that TMJ was often the root of these seemingly unrelated issues. Now, having successfully diagnosed and treated thousands of TMJ patients, Dr. Siman’s initial insights have been validated. He designed his facility to reflect his expertise by giving TMJ patients access to everything they need to get the proper care, from diagnostic equipment to sleep testing to his custom-designed TMJ treatment device.
Testimonials for The TMJ Expert
If I could give more than five stars, I would. For months I had worsening headaches, eventually missing huge amounts of workhours because I just couldn't get out of bed. I own my own business, so aside from the pain aspect, I just couldn't go on without some sort of remedy. I saw SO many specialists: ENT, neurology, chiropractic, acupuncture, my regular doctor and dentist, massage, etc. MRIs and X-Rays didn't show any issues... It's been about six weeks since I first saw Dr. Siman, and I'm essentially headache-free. Yes, that quickly! My relief was almost instantaneous, starting the very first day. Seems to me that's pretty rare in any form of medicine. Great staff too, very helpful and friendly. I'm a pretty optimistic guy, but my condition had me in a really dark place. For Dr. Siman, I can't say enough good words for helping me find my way back... but hopefully these few will help others.

I had a bad experience with a previous orthodontist who tried to treat my TMJ but just left me feeling worse as time went by. I had terrible jaw pain, clicking sounds, clogged ears, and headaches. Eventually, I started looking for someone new and I am so glad I found Dr. Siman. The orthotic he made me changed my bite and relieved the symptoms I was having. He then sent me to continue my treatment with Dr. Grauer, an orthodontist he works with. Now I have no clicking and almost zero pain in my jaw! I was told I had such severe TMJ that I would never get to this point in terms of relief, but Dr. Siman made it happen! Thank you!

Ok, I went in kind of skeptical. I've heard the commercials...but was still pretty apprehensive. I was thoroughly impressed with how they did everything. I was treated so kindly and gently... I suffer from migraines, headaches, snoring, and pain all over my neck and shoulders...Meeting Dr. Siman was awesome. It was great putting a face to a voice that I hear on the radio so often. I honestly wasn't expecting to see him personally, but I did. I didn't feel rushed. I honestly felt like I was his only patient and that says a lot. He was very personable and took so much time to listen and understand where my pain is coming from. I'm very excited to be a patient and start my journey to becoming pain free.

I was diagnosed with TMJ when I was 15. I went to many specialists who ranged from specializations in oral surgery to natural remedies. I went to them in order to relieve my symptoms of clicking, grinding, and worst of all, the jaw pain...I eventually heard of Dr. Siman. I made an appointment and he immediately knew what had caused it and how to fix it. Now I am 20, I have no more clicking, grinding, and absolutely no more pain. If you have any jaw problems like me, you need to see Dr. Siman. He is a miracle worker and will make it as easy as possible. He is the best!

...Dr. Siman saved me from having to go through years of trauma from jaw surgery that would not have fixed my TMJ symptoms. For the first time in a long time I am able to eat with my entire mouth, my snoring is gone, I feel zero pain and pressure on my jaw, and I have no migraines. He really is an expert and if you go to him with an open mind willing to go through the process you will be happy...Dr. Siman uses science to determine TMJ treatment - he is way above the top rated orthodontists I went to in Beverly Hills and Orange County. Thank you Dr. Siman!

Dentophobia is the fear of going to the dentist or having any oral procedures done. Roughly 77 out of every 1000 individuals suffer from some form of dentophobia. It is important to understand the difference between a phobia and a general dislike, though. General dislikes and anxiety do not lead to the overwhelming physical sensations that phobias do, and they do not have as strong of a mental trigger or response.
Does your shoulder pain come as a result of TMJ? The temporomandibular joint in the jaw controls chewing, opening and closing of the mouth, and more. It’s one of the root causes of a lot of disorders, but unfortunately, not many doctors, dentists, periodontists, or oral surgeons will study it. A lot of the possible problems stemming from a dysfunctional temporomandibular joint (TMJ) are attributed to other causes. One of the many results of TMJ disorder is actually shoulder pain.
Apnea is the sudden stoppage of respiratory airflow, which can lead to a lack of blood getting transported to the brain and no oxygen to fill the lungs. Sleep apnea, therefore, occurs when you’re asleep and unconscious, unable to respond to the blockage in your throat. The body does tend to wake up if there is an apneic event, though.
